Avening Youth Club
Avening Youth Club
Avening Youth Club is a vibrant friendly group who meet every Tuesday evening during the school term between 18.15 and 19.45 at the Avening Memorial Hall.  The Youth Club welcomes young people aged between 8 and 14 and offers instructive fun and lively activities presented to them by a trained and caring group of instructors.  Led by Cassie Vickery who has been the stalwart of Avening Youth Club for many years and assisted by Simon Sveder-Cain on most Tuesdays who provides fun and fitness sessions. The evening is divided into two sessions with the first being led by Cassie and covering a variety of activities including quizzes, games, music and cooking.  This is followed by a break during which the attendees are offered healthy natural food and snacks.  The second session of the evening is a little more active with Simon, a full time personal trainer with the Nailsworth company Personal Best, putting the children through their paces with a variety of stimulating and fun fitness activities. Each child is asked to contribute just £1 per week towards of the cost of food and activities with the majority of the funding for the Youth Club coming from a substantial and generous grant made by the Avening Church of England Educational Fund who organize all of the activities as well as paying the insurance costs.  The bill for the hire of the Memorial Hall is paid by a further generous donation from the Avening Parish Council. The Youth Club is run independently with a separate constitution and management board and who are a partner organisation of Young Gloucester, the Central Gloucestershire County Council’s leaders for the provision of youth facilities. Please encourage your children to support the Youth Club which is there for them. For more details, contact:
